Of things Blunt…

By admin, November 22, 2010

Some people have already dropped their work off and judging from what we’ve seen..this year is going to be a corker! Roland and I are happy that SegueArt have once again provided the mystery judge. They will have their work cut out picking from a field of 84 artists. The Blunt relies heavily on the fact that SegueArt provides a judge who is unknown to Cairns. We are lucky to have such great support from Ross and Kerrie Ann.

I thought it would be a good time to mention some of the entertainment on the night. We are lucky to be sponsored by Will Coe’s – Final Touch Productions. They have kindly agreed to provide the Audio and Lighting gear that is essential for a smooth night and we are going to need them as we have a fantastic lineup of entertainers this year. Check out www.finaltouchproductions.com.au if you are looking for someone to help with your party or event.

Another great sponsor this year is the Art Barn. They have been supplying artists with high quality products for the last 30years and have contributed towards this years prizes. Check them out @ www.theartbarn.com.au

As you Like it(Marcia) – www.asyoulikeit.com.au has kindly offered to sponsor The Virgin Award for the 2nd year in a row. Marcia has been committed to promoting local artists and their work for some time now, holding regular shows at the Stratford salon. Who knows…someone may pick up another show with her?

Ochre Restaurant www.ochrerestaurant.com.au is synonymous with quality and a regular sponsor of The Blunt, has agreed to provide the prize for The Dingo Award. If you haven’t been there in a while you should check out the new summer menu. It is yuuummy and don’t forget the chocolate slut!

It is really great to be able to stage an event such as the Blunt without being dependent on funding. It is businesses such as these that make it possible to have a great night with great prizes. And now the playlist….

The Northern Soul Collective – Circusmouse – Jeremiah Johnson – The Fillip (not to be missed) and DJ Rackemup (Funk and Soul Retro).

Cheers

Dom and Roly
